Jockey Pumps
Jockey pumps maintain steady pressure in fire-protection standpipes and sprinkler risers, compensating for small leaks and pressure drift so the main fire pump only starts on a real demand. SMPC supplies vertical multistage and end-suction jockey pumps sized per NFPA 20 (typically 1-25 GPM with sufficient head to match the main pump's churn pressure plus 10 psi), paired with dedicated jockey pump controllers.
UL/FM Certification
Jockey pumps themselves are not required to be UL/FM-listed under NFPA 20 (only the main fire pump must be listed), but the jockey controller should be listed for fire-pump service. SMPC supplies both ULFM-listed and non-listed jockey packages — listed when the local AHJ or insurance carrier mandates a fully-listed assembly, non-listed for cost-sensitive installations where code does not require listing.
